So many spring walks - estuary, woodlands, moorland, beach

The spring is most certainly here, with birdsong, flowers of all colours and the hedgerows round the site starting to fill out with blossom and greenery.
Everyone associates Pembrokeshire with the beaches and coast, but over the last few weeks we (including the dogs) have had some amazing walks in all sorts of landscapes - all within 30 minutes drive of Quarry Park.
At Picton Point and Minwear (both less than 10 minutes drive) we have 2 very different estuary experiences - the Picton Point walk is right at the Cleddau tide line (the Cleddau is tidal until Blackpool Mill on its eastern arm, and Haverfordwest on its western arm), with fabulous horizontal sessile oaks, shingle beaches, estuary birds (and some mud), whilst Minwear is a woodland walk, much higher above the water, through stands of oak, ash, beech and birch - more robin and blackbird sounds here.
A favourite inland walk, with a different body of water, is around Llysyfran lake - a 7 mile circular walk, with a fab cafe by the car park. Here we find fishermen, watersports, herons, geese and ducks. If you don't fancy the full 7 miles, you can go out and back along one arm, or take the tarmac path down to see the dam itself up close - but what goes down will have to come back up again!
A walk with history, geography and wonderful views of the whole county (weather permitting of course!) can be found by ascending the flank of Carn Sian, in the Preseli hills, to the magical mystical stones of Carn Bica, Bedd Arthur and Carn Menyn - wonderful Preseli Bluestone monuments with stacks of history, some ponies and sheep.
And we did manage some beach walks, but a favourite this summer was catching the very low tide at Amroth, and being able to walk on the sand to Marros, with its exposed sunken forest areas. The tide was on its way back in, so the return trip was via the coast path, including a number of steps.
All of this, within 30 minutes drive of Quarry Park (driving times on map below)

It's been a fantastic spring for getting out and about, with some blue skies, and so much variety. Pembrokeshire isn't just about the beaches (though very fine they are too!).
